Duchenne muscular dystrophy (DMD) is a genetic disorder characterized by progressive muscle degeneration and weakness that leads to physical and movement disability. Dystrophy patients have normal intelligence, but nonetheless are unable attend school alongside other children due to inadequate facilities that they need to get to school (e.g. transportation) and in the schools themselves (e.g. disability access). As a result, children cannot access education facilities and cases are forced to leave school.
According to medical statistics, the number of these patients in Iran is estimated at about 35,000 people.
The Duchenne campaign welcomes all financial and practical assistance to improve the conditions of these families and looks forward to your support for these children.
These patients require wheelchairs, expensive respiratory equipment and among other specialised equipment.
Iran's children charity is accepting donations from outside of Iran to support this campaign.

The documentary "Dream of Soccer" directed by Sohrab Kavir and the compilation of Hayed Safiyari ended after seven years of effort.
Sohrab, who suffered a series of psychological problems due to the death of his three brothers due to the Duchess disease (progressive muscle analysis), hopes to establish his mental health after organising the first online international soccer match between the national team of Iran and England.
The premier of this film in Iran coincided with the launch of the Duchenne campaign.
The film will soon be released in the UK. Further information will be announced subsequently.
